Janel King
Berwyn Park District Commissioner
Janel King is an 18 and a half year resident of Berwyn’s 1st Ward, with roots in Chicago and a childhood spent in Oak Park and Forest Park. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Kendall College in Evanston/Chicago.
Janel is an active community member, frequently involved with local civic organizations and volunteering for various community initiatives. Two years ago, she ran for a seat on the D100 School Board, and now, she’s seeking to further connect with Berwyn residents through her candidacy for Berwyn Park District Commissioner.
Janel is eager to bring her ideas to the park board, focusing on green initiatives and fostering greater community inclusivity.

Julio Diaz believes the community is ready for bold, new ideas that can transform the Park District for the better. With a career spent in the nonprofit sector, he has learned to manage budgets effectively, think strategically, and prioritize collective progress. These values and skills are what Julio will bring to the Berwyn Park District as he works to improve parks, spaces, and programs in the neighborhood.
